Childe Hassam, America's foremost Impressionist painter, received a Temple Gold Medal from the Carnegie Institute in 1898 for this exquisite two-image watercolor.  The upper frame of this work, from the Gilded Age, depicts the Heinz Time Office and adjacent buildings.  The lower rendering, a close-up of the vantage at top left, depicts ladies strolling in a garden on the Heinz roof.

Katheleen M. Burnside and Stuart Field authenticated this Artwork to be included in the Catalog Raisonne.

 

This lot is accompanied by a portfolio of literature and pictures depicting the subject painting together with a certificate of authenticity.
